New Delhi : India and Bangladesh Tuesday began two-day secretary level talks here to thrash out differences over the sharing of river waters.
The issues to be taken up include dredging of the Icchamati river (one of the tributaries of the Padma river as the Ganga is called in Bangladesh), minor lift irrigation and drinking water supply schemes, river bank protection programmes and sharing of waters of common rivers.
Water Resources Secretary Syed Mohammed Zobaer leads the 18-member Bangladesh side. Secretary in the water resources ministry Gauri Chatterjee leads the Indian team.
