Entry to the Taj Mahal will be free during the urs and the monument will remain open on Friday as well.

Urs organising committee chairman Tahiruddin Tahir said a record 150-metre multi coloured chadar is ready for the ritualistic “poshi” or offering. A 51-quintal chadar made of flowers and another specially procured from Saudi Arabia will also be presented on the occasion.

Traditional musical instruments like nagadas and shehnais will set the mood during various ceremonies and there will be a ghazal performance by Laiq Khan.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will not permit the carrying of banners or entry of brass bands. The visitors and pilgrims will have to move along a demarcated path.

The organisers say the highlight of the urs will be the participation of the last descendent of the Mughal dynasty Yaqoob Habibuddin Tusi and his family members.
