“Rumours have been floating that a high-level meeting presided over by President General Pervez Musharraf to review (the) current political situation and various options regarding changes in the political set up is underway here.

“The declaration of emergency in the country is likely in the meeting,” Geo quoted “well-placed sources” as saying.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sher Afghan said various options including declaration of emergency were under consideration in the meeting. But he did not give the details.

The agenda for the meeting was not known.

“The meeting is very crucial and important decisions regarding the future political set up are likely to be made in the meeting,” Geo said.

Presidential sources, however, denied reports about the declaration of an emergency.

“The reports about the declaration of emergency are baseless and only rumours, the presidential sources told Geo News,” the website report said.
