The fire occurred at the General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. The cause remains unknown.

The power cut lasted for over two hours and airport workers had to search passengers’ baggage manually, while shops were forced to close.

It remains unclear how many flights were affected by the incident.

More than 230 flights depart from the airport daily to over 50 destinations.
