Indian IT bellwether Infosys proposes to build the SEZs of 119.87 hectares and 60.93 hectares in Andhra Pradesh’s Rangareddy district.

The go-ahead was given at a meeting of the Board of Approvals (BOA) on SEZs presided over by Commerce Secretary G.K. Pillai.

The board also approved the proposal for two more SEZs to be set up by Indian BPO firm Genpact and Enfield Infrastructure Ltd.

It granted the in-principle approval to a multi-product SEZ proposal by Ispat Industries Ltd and a biotech SEZ by Veritas Infrastructure Development Ltd in Maharashtra.

So far the government has granted approvals for setting up 362 SEZs out of which 136 have been notified and they have attracted Rs.453.77 billion investments, providing jobs to over 38,405 people, Pillai said while presiding over the 16th meeting of the BOA.
