Indo-US Civil Nuclear Deal, flood situation in different parts of the country, political developments in Goa and agriculture scene are likely to figure prominently in over one month long session.

Social security for unorganized laborers, price situation and internal security in the country will also be discussed.

The opposition NDA has already chalked out its strategy for the coming session while the Left front extending support to the government from outside will fine tune its strategy today.

The Session begins on a day when the focus of the attention is the Vice Presidential election.

According to official calender 25 Bills are likely to be introduced during the session and 25 others are likely to be discussed and passed. Three Bills may be withdrawn.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning on Friday, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has convened a meeting of leaders of all political parties in New Delhi.

With non-UPA parties likely to go hammer and tongs against the Government over the Indo-US civil nuclear deal, Chatterjee will seek cooperation of the members in the smooth running of the House.

Government’s plans on evolving a consensus on the nuclear deal has run into rough weather with the Left allies rejecting it and saying it should not be operationalized.

With the Government under all round attack on the nuclear deal, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will make a statement on the accord in Parliament on 13th August.
