President: Iraq victory, precondition for region’s future peace

    Tehran : President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and his accompanying senior delegation said Iraqi government and nation victory to establish stability and security there is a precondition for region’s future tranquility.

    The president said ” Current situation in the region, including Iraq, is very sensitive” adding “Iran and Iraq have a heavy responsibility for establishing peace and security in the region.” Ahmadinejad continued, “Iraq government is trying hard to establish security and build a clear future for Iraqi nation, but corrupt people are opposed to this and as a matter of fact they oppose to the glory and honour of Iraq.

    In the meeting, Nuri al-Maliki appreciated Iran’s positive and constructive stances on Iraq, including providing security and fight against terrorism and noted that “Terrorists want to dominate our potentials in political, economic and culture fields, but by grace of God we will neutralize their plots.”

    Expressing that killing in Iraq would stop soon, the Iraqi PM said, “Today, Iran, Iraq and all countries of the region must fight against terrorism.”

    Al-Maliki underlined that meetings and consultations can provide an appropriate ground for bilateral cooperation and expressed his appreciation on Iranian officials readiness for assisting Iraq reconstruction and noted that in his meeting with the First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi they have considered reasons and factors which have caused problems and obstacles in the way of joint plans and have presented ways to get rid of them.
