Tehran : President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged people on Thursday to promote their self-reliance in order to develop a dynamic culture of scientific progress.
Addressing officials and staff of the Royan Research Center, the president said people should believe themselves and their potentials by insisting on their cultural characteristics if they wanted to become an influential nation at the international arena.
Established in 1991, Royan initially worked as a center for limited surgeries but it developed to a center for stem cell researches in 1998.
Royan has so far succeeded in making major scientific
breakthroughs including producing Iran’s first cloned lamb, Royana; finding new methods for spinal injury treatments and establishing an umbilical cord blood bank.
“Today was one of the greatest days of my life,” said the president adding that he was pleased by witnessing achievements of the young Iranian scientists working as members of the University Jihad who are loyal to the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.
