State government vehicles mostly hit by Kashmiri militants

Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) was most hit during the 17-year-long militancy in the region as its 117 vehicles were blown up by the militants with explosive devices, SRTC officials said disclosed to INS that The transport sector in the state was badly hit during the militancy period as 117 vehicles, including trucks, coaches and buses, of state-run JKSRTC were damaged No vehicles have been purchased to replace the damaged ones. When contacted by Ins correspondent , the Minister for Transport Hakeem
Mohmad Yaseen said that SRTC will be soon having a new fleet of vehicles’ by the end of this year and proper maintenance will be done regularly.

Presently there are 1,150 vehicles with the SRTC out of which 850 are functional and 450 passenger buses and 105 other vehicles are operating on inter-state roads in Jammu and Kashmir,
