Bangkok : Thailand’s Council for National Security chairman and last year’s coup leader General Sonthi Boonyaratkalin Friday dismissed reports that he had been invited to lead Rak Chart political party to contest the elections late this year.
His close aide Panlop Pinmanee had recently said that Sonthi would run under the Rak Chart banner. But Sonthi said the party had nothing to do with him.
The coup leader denied that he had met community leaders in several countries with an intention to build his support base for the upcoming elections, saying that it was his job to oversee national security and speak with local government officials.
