Delhi: In a statement issued by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, he emphatically denied that he meant any disrespect to the Prophet of Islam (Peace be upon him) in his writings.

Recently, Asiya Andarabi, chief of Dukhtaran-e-millat, a Kashmiri Women organization reacted strongly to an article written by Maulana in his monthly magazine Al-Risala’s June issue. Maulana in the article wrote that Prophet of Islam is the last prophet but not necessarily the final model. He also suggested that coming back of Christ could mean a return to “Christ model” which is a model that does not involve “jihad” and “hijrat.”

Maulana, known for his revolutionary interpretation of Islamic text, issued a statement that he meant any disrespect. He reminded that his book ‘paighambar-e-inqilaab’ (The Revolutionary Prophet) have won him International Sirat Award twice, one for English and one for Urdu.

Quoting from this book he said that “the life of the Prophet of Islam is the perfect example for every human being.” He added, “He is the greatest Guide that human history has ever produced. That is why God ordained him to be the Final Prophet, a Prophet and guide for all time to come.” Maulana asserted that this is his belief regarding the Prophet.
