Pakistan Prime Minister asks worker to tune up with new technologies

Karachi : Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday asked workers to open up their minds and learn new technologies for enhancing capability and productivity.

“The workers are the back bone of the economy and they were carrying forward Pakistan. You have to change your attitude and leave obsolete working skills and learn modern technology for enhancing productivity”, he said while talking to a delegation of trade union leaders of workers unions of Karachi Port Trust and Port Qasim Authority at Governor House.

He said technology was the future the world and every country was striving to acquire new technologies for a faster growth and improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Citing example of modern China, the prime minister said that this fast friend of Pakistan has grown rapidly and excelled due to hard work and introduction of new technology.

He said the government was taking every possible step to protect the interest of workers in the country and has raised the salaries of government employees manifold in last eight years and also enhanced minimum wage for workers twice in two years. We will take more (pro-worker) measures, he added.

He said that if the worker is happy, the society and the nation will be happy.

“In return we want that workers should open up their minds and go for new skills and reduce cost of production”, he added. He suggested the workers to give a better education to their children so that more qualified workforce is created in Pakistan.

“Whenever I meet the workers I am energized. I am myself a worker and whatever I have earned it is with the help of hard work”, Shaukat Aziz opined.

Talking of use of modern equipment at the ports of Hong Kong and Singapore to reduce cargo handling time, the prime minister said that the operators of these ports are also working in Pakistan and they will bring in modern equipment to enhance efficiency of Pakistani ports.

He said Pakistan was founded by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah after a great struggle and sacrifices and the present governemnt will take it forward on the path of development, glory and prosperity.

He said that every Pakistani has to play its role and work hard to carry the mission of Quaid-e-Azam.

The Prime Minister noted that peace and brotherhood will bring in prosperity and ensure the continuity of development process in the country.

Referring to the demands of workers, the prime minister said that he will consult with the managements of KPT and PQA and take a decision to benefit both the parties. We will examine all your demands and take decision with a mutual consultation of both the parties so that both are happy.
