Kolkata : Mohammedan Sporting beat Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) 4-2 to register an elusive win in the Calcutta Premier League (CPL) here.
Captain Raman Vijayan played a steller role in the victory hitting the bull’s eye twice. The first session ended 1-1 as Basudev Mondal opened the scoring for Sporting. Souvick Biswas equalised for CPT.
Sporting came back strongly after the lemon-break and found the lead again in the 56th minute through Vijayan, who came in as a 33rd minute substitute.
Sporting continued their dominance building up their lead as K. Kulothungan (63rd minute) made it 3-1 before Vijayan struck his second goal in the 78th minute (4-1).
CPT pulled one back in the 88th minute (4-2) through its African forward Chukwukere Henry.
Mohammedan Sporting, who have lost two and drawn one in their previous three ties, tallied four points after Monday’s win.
