No one was injured in the protest.

“The school administration is responsible for the death of our child Sagar, who died in a road mishap, while returning home from the school with his four cousins,” said a furious relative.

“Our five children are studying in the school and every day we used to go to school at 1.30 p.m. to take them home, but Tuesday the administration closed the school at 11.00 a.m. in the morning without prior notice and forced the children to go home on their own,” he said.

“They should have informed us. It is their mistake and they will pay for it.”

The parents alleged that the children were beaten by the school guard and a physical education trainer when they refused to leave the school without their guardians.

While returning with his four cousins from the school, Sagar, a nursery student, was knocked down by a speeding car near the school. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Demanding the immediate arrest of the school owner, the parents held a protest outside the school for three hours.

Police said they have detained the school owner and his wife.

“We are inquiring into the matter and appropriate action is being taken,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District) Mehraj Singh said.
