Afghan district chief, three children killed

Kabul : A suicide bombing killed a district chief and his three children in southern Afghanistan Friday, the police said.
A suicide bomber walked to the door of chief of Jalai district Khairuddin Kaka’s house in Kandahar region and blew himself, said Mohammad Saber, a police officer.

The blast killed Kaka, two of his teenage sons and one of his daughters, the officer said. One of the district chief’s daughters and one of his sons were also injured.

No one has claimed responsibility but Taliban rebels have carried out similar attacks.

Kandahar, a hotbed of Taliban guerrillas, has suffered from suicide bombings frequently over the past years. Rising violence in Afghanistan has claimed over 3,900 people this year.
