J&K Minister’s son arrested for attacking SHO with butcher’s knife

Srinagar : Son of minister for law, finance and parliamentary affairs Tariq Hameed Qarra was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Station House Officer (SHO) of Jammu and Kashmir police with sharp edged weapon in Hazratbal area, on the outskirts of Srinagar city, this afternoon.

Police sources, quoting eyewitnesses, said that the Wahid Hameed Qarra, son of the minister, turned furious on SHO Hazratbal, after the later objected his car parking in no-parking zone.

“The accused slapped the SHO and attacked him with a butcher knife, which he brought from an adjoining shop”, a senior police officer told News Agency of Kashmir, on the condition of anonymity.

He said that the SHO suffered grievous injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

The accused was overpowered by the Personnel Security Officers (PSOs) of the SHO and lodged in Nageen police station, sources added.

This is second time, in last one year, when son of a PDP minister has been arrested by the police. Earlier, this year son of forest minister Qazi Muhammad Afzal was arrested by the police for assaulting senior officers of PDD.
