Srinagar : A major district-level administrative shake up, including of senior police officials, is on the cards Saturday when the cabinet meets here under Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, official sources indicated late Friday.

“Besides posting senior superintendents of police (SSPs) for the eight newly created districts and shifting many other SSPs and district magistrates from their present postings, the cabinet is also likely to order the promotions of 10 senior superintendents of police as deputy inspectors general,” the sources told IANS here.

The cabinet is also expected to issue the posting orders of Inspector General of Police Muhammad Amin Shah who has been awaiting posting orders after his promotion.

Kashmir police chief Kuldeep Khoda, who met the chief minister here Thursday, is known to have briefed him in detail about his preferences for various senior postings in the department.

Khoda’s recommendations would be given due consideration when the cabinet orders the new postings Saturday, the sources said.
