Abu Dhabi : Former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto has vowed to end her self-imposed exile and return to Pakistan between September and December.

Bhutto, in an interview published here Monday, told Khaleej Times that she is getting ready to return home with or without an agreement with the Pakistani government led by President Pervez Musharraf.

Bhutto confirmed that she had held intensive talks with Musharraf’s government.

She also has talked to her old political rival, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and senior officials from the US State Department.

Musharraf reportedly met Bhutto in Abu Dhabi during his visits to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Jan 24 and July 27 this year.

Bhutto said that she was ready to work with Musharraf and a parliament to build “internal reconciliation” in Pakistan.

“There is no agreement yet. The next two weeks will be crucial,” she said.

Bhutto served as Pakistan’s prime minister twice in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She left the country in 1998 in a self-imposed exile to avoid arrest in alleged corruption cases.
