Vietnam, US agree to boost ties

Hanoi : Relations between Vietnam and the US have developed in all aspects and the leaders and people of the two countries resolved not to let their differences hinder their relationship, said President Nguyen Minh Triet.

The Vietnamese president made the remarks when he met the new US ambassador, Michael W. Michalak, to receive his credentials Monday, the Vietnam News reported Tuesday.

The president added that he was happy to see progress in relations between the two countries, especially in politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, education, science and technology.

However, due to their history, the two countries still have differences. But he believed the remaining issues would be resolved through constructive dialogue, Triet said.
