20 killed in Iraq suicide car bomb attack

Tikrit (Iraq) : Twenty people were killed and 50 wounded in a suicide car bomb attack Wednesday in Beiji town of northern Iraqi province of Salahudin, the provincial police personnel said.

“Our latest reports said that 20 people were killed and up to 50 more were injured by the suicide car bomb attack,” he told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

A suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden car into the entrance of the police headquarters in Beiji, 200 km north of Baghdad, destroying parts of the headquarters, several nearby buildings and civilian cars, he said. Bodies were seen scattered around near the building.

US and Iraq forces cordoned off the area, he added.

Ambulances and rescue teams were removing debris from the destroyed buildings and looking for possible victims, he said.
