Hong Kong : A 14-year-old girl who earned eight ‘A’s in recent examinations will become the youngest student at a Hong Kong university when she joins next month, a media report said Wednesday.
Ho Hoi-lam, who lives in the Yuen Long district, accepted an offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in a move that will slash five years off her schooling, the Standard reported.
If Ho successfully completes 24 credits of language, liberal arts and science classes in her first year at the university, she will start formal studies at the university’s medical faculty in September 2008.
Medical faculty dean Fok Tai-fai said Ho’s results were brilliant and she would become the university’s youngest medical student.
Commenting on her forthcoming university life, Ho said: “Now that I know what the challenge is going to be, that makes me even happier. I have a definite goal.”
Fok said a mentor will be arranged to oversee Ho’s development and she would live in a dormitory so she can adapt to life at the university.
