Bhopal: The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Ambumani Ramdoss has reportedly showered praises on Madhya Pradesh Government stating that Madhya Pradesh has done a pioneer work under the National Rural Health Mission, (NRHM), and Reproductive and Child Health, (RCH), Programme. He also complimented the state government that the works being carried out in the health sector have set an emulating example for other states.
According to an official Press release Dr. Ramdoss made this disclosure to the Madhya Pradesh Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi while the latter called on him during his recent visit to New Delhi. Vishnoi informed that Ramdoss had assured him that the construction of the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS), hospital and college building would begin next year i.e 2008 and completed by 2010.
During the meeting, Vishnoi took up the AIIMS issue with Dr. Ramdoss pursuing him to expedite the process of setting up of the proposed establishment in Bhopal. Dr. Ramdoss reportedly told him that the process for construction of housing premises for officers and employees had already begun. The tender for construction of hospital building would soon be accepted, Dr. Ramdoss added. In response to a request made by Vishnoi, the Union Health Minister has consented to lay the foundation of the housing complex of the AIIMS soon. He also assured to provide all possible assistance and cooperation towards establishment of new medical college in government sector in Madhya Pradesh.
Referring to the success of “Rogi Kalyan Samiti” programme and “Janani express” scheme being implemented in Madhya Pradesh, the Union Health Minister directed the officers of the Union Government to initiate steps for implementation of such schemes and programmes in North-Eastern states.
Dr. Ramdoss also lauded the success of Asha programme. During the meeting between the two, it was agreed upon that bicycles and radio sets should be provided to the Asha workers besides production of a special radio programme focusing on Asha programme. Moreover, Dr. Ramdoss assured to provide more funds for “Rogi Kalyan Samitis of the state. Sanction was also accorded for execution of training programme for ANM and women health workers under the “Swavlamban Yojna”.
Following the request, Dr. Ramdoss directed the Union joint secretary health to increase the financial assistance being provided to Madhya Pradesh under NRHM programme. Vishnoi informed the Union Health Minister that a number of innovative schemes are being implemented under the NRHM programme.
Vishnoi also put forth a demand for setting up of linear accelerator for treatment of cancer patients in the hospitals affiliated to the medical colleges of the state. In response to this, Vishnoi was informed that funds have already been made available for this purpose in the 11th plan.
The joint secretary to the union government Amarjeet Sinha lauded the “Swavlamban Yojna” being implemented for empowerment of nursing cadre in Madhya Pradesh. During the meeting, senior officers of the Union Government and all the directors of Madhya Pradesh Health Department were also present. ([email protected])
