New Delhi : Representative Muslim organisations have appealed to Imams of mosques to focus the Palestine problem in their sermons next Friday (August 24) and make special supplications for the restoration of Masjid al-Aqsa as well as for the safety and protection of
Palestinians, who have been the target of Israel’s continued atrocities aimed at their ethnic cleansing and now deprived of even the basic human needs like water and electric supply.

A joint statement carried by the Hindustan Express here Thursday, the representatives of various Muslim organisations called the last week’s visit of certain so-called Muslim intellectuals to Israel and their signing of an agreement on ‘Muslim-Jew unity’ tantamount to rubbing salt into wounds of the besieged Palestinians.

In a rare show of Muslim unity and solidarity with the Palestinians, these Indian Muslim leaders called on the Imams of mosques to condemn in the severest possible terms this shaking of hands with the Israelis by some self-styled Muslim intellectuals.

They also urged the Imams to convey to the Union government that the change in India’s foreign policy with regard to Israel is
quite unacceptable, for India’s foreign policy has always been in support of the oppressed and aimed at defeating the oppressors.

The Muslim leaders also prayed to Allah the Exalted to keep the Ummah under His protection and defeat the Israeli conspiracy to tilt the weight of Indian Muslims to its favour.

The signatories to the joint statement included Imam Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri Dr Mufti Mukarram, spokesman Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Abdul Hameed Noamani, Naib Nazim Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Maulana Muqueen Faizi Salafi, secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind
Muhammad Mujtaba Farooq, chairman Minorities Coordination Board, Mufti Ataur Rahman of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (Salim Qasmi group), chairman All India Muslim Advisory Board Maulana Yaseen Misbahi, Maulana Fuzailur Rahman Qasmi of Markazi Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Javed Habeeb of Bharati Majlis, editor Urdu monthly Afkar-e-Milli Dr Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, editor English fortnightly Milli Gazette Dr Zafar-ul-Islam Khan, general secretary All India Momin Conference Haji Ahmed Ali Ansari, president Fikr-o-Amal Maulana Zeeshan Hidayati, and secretary All India Urdu Editors Conference and editor Khabardad-e-Jadeed Masoom Muradabadi.

Meanwhile, senior member All India Congress Committee Mirza Muhammad Usman called the members of the delegation who claimed
to be the leaders of Indian Muslims during their recent visit to Israel ‘traitors to the community’ and demanded from the Union government to ban Tanzeem Aimma-e-Masajid.

In a statement released here Wednesday, Mirza Usman said that secretary general Tanzeem Aimma-e-Masajid Maulana Umair
Ilyasi should be widely condemned for his attempt to sell the community to the Israelis by claiming to be the real leader of 5 lakh Imams in India and 25 crore Indian Muslims.

He also called upon the members of the Tanzeem to convene its urgent meeting and oust its secretary general with immediate
effect for his anti-Muslim stance.

In another development, Muslims at various places in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi condemned the members of the delegation that visited Israel, burnt the effigies of Maulana Umair Ilyasi and Editor Rashtriya Sahara Aziz Burney, and called for boycotting these treacherous Muslims as well as the Urdu daily Rashtriya Sahara for their pro-Israel tilt.
