New Delhi : India’s Defense Minister A K Antony said Moscow promised there would be no delay in delivery of Russian armaments ordered by New Delhi, according to news reports Sunday.

“Such an assurance has been given on government-to-government basis,” he told reporters in Gwalior airbase on Saturday.

“The Russians are now looking into the deliveries in a serious fashion,” Antony, who is scheduled to visit Moscow to attend an Indo-Russian inter-governmental military and technical commission meeting in October, said, according to a report in the Economic Times.

Indian frontline military equipment is mostly of Russian origin. A delay in delivery of aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov, to be inducted into the Indian Navy next year, and any slowdown on the rollout of Sukhoi-30 fighters, could hit the country’s defense preparedness, the report said.
