Kabul : Two separate battles between Afghan forces and Taliban guerrillas have left 15 insurgents dead, officials said Monday.
Eleven militants were killed during an engagement by the police in Jalrez district of the central Wardak province Sunday, a senior police official, Mohammad Awaz Mazlom, said.
He said two more Taliban guerrillas and one policeman were injured in the gun battle.
Also on Sunday, four rebels were killed and eight sustained injuries in a similar battle in Daychopan district of the southern Zabul province, district chief Fazal Bari said.
There were no casualties on Afghan troops, he added.
Due to rising Taliban violence, about 4,000 people have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
