Al-Badar militant arrested with grenades, mines

Srinagar : At least three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Lolab valley in North Kashmir , while police claimed to have arrested an Al-Badar militant in Handwara.
Giving details of the encounter, an official spokesman said that three militants were killed in an encounter at Dorswani, Lolab valley, this afternoon.
Quoting SSP Kupwara Vijay Kumar, the spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir, that based on specific inputs about the presence of militants a joint operation was launched by police and 2 Para of army at Doraswani, Kanghar, early this morning.
The contact was established with a group of militants triggering an encounter. In the fierce gun battle, which lasted throughout the day today, three Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were eliminated, he added.
The SSP said that the militants apparently were foreigners and initial investigation has shown that the militants belonged to LET. However, their identity was being ascertained.
Meanwhile, Handwara Police arrested an Al-Badr cadre in Handwara and has recovered Grenades and Anti-Personnel Mines from his possession.
SP Handwara, Dr. Haseeb Mughal told News Agency of Kashmir that acting on specific information, a special Naka was laid by Police at Salganzer Zachaldara during which one suspect Mohammed Iqbal Wagay son of Abdul Rehman Wagay of Nelow Adoora Kulgam was apprehended.
Personnel search of the suspected revealed that he was carrying a consignment for Al-Badr and three UBGL Grenades, two Anti-Personnel mines and some incriminating documents. The consignment, he said, was by the accused in a Boot pack.
During questioning, he said, the arrested person revealed his affiliation with Al-Badr foreign militants and disclosed that he was deputed for transshipment of consignment from Kulgam to Rajwar and had earlier visited Bowan, Khaipora and Wadder areas of Rajwar, thrice in last month.
