Bell guides England to comfortable win

Birmingham : England put up a professional display to defeat India by 42 runs in the third One-day International here Monday and take a 2-1 lead in the seven-match series.

England made 281 for eight wickets in 50 overs, thanks largely to Ian Bell’s 79 (89 balls, 2x4s, 2x6s) and captain Paul Collingwood’s 44 (53 balls, 2x4s, 1×6), after India won the toss. Bell was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Left-arm pacer Rudra Pratap Singh captured three England wickets.

In reply, India were all out for 239 in 48.1 overs following some disjointed batting performances.

Only Sourav Ganguly (72, 104 balls, 9x4s, 1×6), who completed 11,000 runs during the match, and captain Rahul Dravid (56, 61 balls, 7x4s, 1×6) played their usual knocks.

Pacer James Anderson bagged three wickets while Chris Tremlett and Collingwood took two wickets apiece.
