The team, which arrived in the largest Latin American country last Thursday, finished its work in Rio de Janeiro Sunday after a visit to the Maracana Stadium.

The 10 inspectors from the world football governing body are due to travel to Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo, where they will have discussions with local officials.

In Rio, the FIFA team also watched the presentation of the other 13 candidate cities: Belem, Campo Grande, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Fortaleza, Goiania, Maceio, Manaus, Natal, Recife, Rio Branco and Salvador.

Brazil is the only country bidding to host the event, which is due to be staged in South America under FIFA’s rotation system.

But Brazil has to first meet FIFA’s standards in the field of stadium situation and transport infrastructure.

FIFA will finalise the host country Oct 30.
