Indian blind cricketers blank England 5-0

New Delhi : In a remarkable performance, the Indian cricket team of blind players routed hosts England 5-0 in the One-Day International series this week.

According to George Abraham, chairman of the Association for Cricket for the Blind in India (ACBI), the five-match series was played in Worcestershire.

Manvendra Singh was the captain of the team coached by Noor Mohammed, director of physical education at Jamia Millia Islamia, said Abraham.

“The batsmen were superb, the bowling was consistently good and the fielding was spectacular,” he said, adding that Sightsavers International and Standard Chartered Bank were the team sponsors.

“It is hoped that that this wonderful showing would result in greater support for the game in the country.”

Result: India won by 175 runs

4th ODI: Studdley Cricket Club, Aug 25
