New Delhi : A woman was arrested here Friday for allegedly hurling stones at the official car of Railway Minster Lalu Prasad while he was driving down to the parliament.
The incident took place in the morning outside the minister’s Tughlak Road office, when the woman, aged about 40, suddenly emerged from among the pwople assembled there and started pelting Lalu Prasad’s car with stones.
The minister didn’t receive any injuries. His security officials caught the woman, identified as Rita, and took her to a nearby police station for questioning.
Confirming the incident, Lalu Prasad told reporters: “I didn’t suffer any injury or harm. The security officials immediately overpowered the lady and she is being questioned at a police station.”
According to police, during interrogation Rita disclosed that she had been trying to meet the minister for the last three days but was disallowed.
She told police that she runs a private coaching institute and had come from Bardhman district in West Bengal to plead for a job in the national capital.
“Having failed to meet the minister, the woman in her frustration hurled stones at his car,” said a police official.
