“Anybody who knows political history of India knows what happens to the people who leave their mother party – Congress,” said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

“Those who do not learn lessons from history are condemned to repeat the fatal mistakes.”

Bhajan Lal and his son, Congress MP Kuldeep Bishnoi, jolted Haryana’s ruling Congress, announcing the formation of the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL).

The septuagenarian stalwart, who led the Congress in Haryana to one of its biggest victories in assembly polls in February 2005, was pipped to the post of the chief minister by Bhupinder Singh Hooda who was personally chosen by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The new party was announced at a massive rally in Hooda’s hometown Rohtak.
