This is the second explosion at the mine in the past two weeks. A total of 101 miners were killed Nov 18 in a blast at the Zasyadko mine in the Donetsk region, the heart of the country’s coal industry.

Authorities said faulty equipment and poor safety conditions might have been the reason behind the methane blast at the mine. An investigation is underway.
