Malappuram (Kerala) : The Kerala Police has rescued restaurant owner Abdul Razzak kidnapped last month and arrested three of his kidnappers near Hassan in Karnataka.

The probe into the case was conducted by a joint team of Kerala and Karnataka police. It found Razzak gagged and tied up under a cot in an unoccupied house Sunday.

Razzak (40) went missing Nov 5 on his way to Managalore in Karnataka. He runs a restaurant at Angamali near Kochi, around 150 km from here.

The kidnappers had been demanding Rs.50 million as ransom for Razzak’s release. In the initial days of the probe the police were baffled as the ransom calls were coming from numbers of South Korean and Canadian mobile phone service providers.

It was a call from an Indian mobile phone number four days ago that helped the police to track down the kidnappers. Police are on the look out for the other members of the gang.

Razzak’s wife, Fareequa, had moved a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court Nov 21. It had given the police two weeks to produce Razzak.
