Addressing an election rally here, Singh said, “If the government goes ahead with the nuclear deal, we will not be able to carry out nuclear tests in future.”

Singh’s statement came hours after External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s assured parliament that even after signing the nuclear deal India would be free to conduct nuclear tests.

“Congress is once again playing minority politics by pleasing the Muslims by offering them educational scholarships and other benefits but was ignoring needy Hindus,” he said.

“The Congress was pampering the minorities and ignoring the overwhelming one billion Hindus,” Singh alleged.

On Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen’s issue, he said, “If India had accommodated 30 million Bangladeshis it could happily allow her to stay in India freely.”

Singh said his party was different as it practised what it preached, unlike other political parties.

“The best example was Karnataka where we supported a government for 20 months and when our chance came the JDS backed out,” he said.

Top BJP leaders including L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and Venkaiah Naidu held different rallies in the state Wednesday.

The second and last phase of polling for 65 assembly seats takes place Dec 19.Counting starts Dec 28.
