Jaipur : Now you can bring heritage liquor from Rajasthan as souvenirs. The state-owned Ganganagar Sugar Mills (GSM) has launched these spiced liquors, once prepared in erstwhile royal households, in miniature bottles.

“The miniature bottles are being launched on the Palace on Wheels (a luxury tourist train), after which we plan to launch them in the market,” O.P. Yadav, general manager, GSM, told IANS.

He said the company was starting the supply from Thursday. The state tourism department has placed an order for 1,500 miniature bottles of 90 ml each of different heritage liquors.

He said that initially “Kesar Kasturi”, “Jagmohan”, “Chandrahas” and “Mawalin” were being launched in miniature bottles. The range would later be expanded.

“Each bottle of 90 ml would cost between Rs.90 and Rs.146. Special gift packs costing between Rs.520 and Rs.1,024 are also being launched,” Yadav added.

These spiced liquors were once the specialty of royal families in Rajasthan and were known by their names. GSM workers have learnt the recipes under the tutelage of erstwhile royal chefs.

Kesar Kasturi, for instance, contains 21 spices, while Chandrahas is a mixture of 76 different spices.

Similarly, Jagmohan and Mawalin contain 27 and 29 types of spices.
