Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh) : Five crude bombs normally used as firecrackers were Thursday found from the court premises here, where the trial of the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya 15 years ago is underway.

Police arrested a man, Rajaram Lodh, with the bombs normally used as firecrackers for wedding ceremonies, said Superintendent of Police Mohit Agrawal.

He was nabbed during an intensive search of the premises, where security has been intensified on the 15th anniversary of the demolition.

According to Agrawal, Lodh doesn’t seem to have any terrorist connections. He appeared to have come to court for a pending case and was caught with the bombs in his bag.

The demolition of the Babri mosque on Dec 6, 1992 had triggered a wave of communal violence in India. The case against several leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues in the Rae Bareli court.
