India reaffirms commitment to SAARC

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday reiterated India’s commitment to South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and hoped that the body will become a “shining example of regional cooperation.”

In a message released on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the signing of the SAARC charter, Singh pointed out that an integrated South Asia would bring great benefits to its people.

“It is my hope that SAARC will become a shining example of regional cooperation and reflect the immense potential and shared heritage of the people of South Asia,” he said.

Singh reaffirmed “India’s commitment to working with all SAARC member countries to realize the aspirations and goals that are enshrined in the SAARC charter”.
