Washington, Dec 9 (Xinhua) A gunman opened fire and injured at least four people Sunday morning at a training centre for young Christian missionaries in a Denver suburb, police said.

The gunman walked into the Youth With a Mission centre and fired shots at around 12.30 a.m. (0630 GMT), Arvada Police spokeswoman Susan Medina said. At least 50 people were at the Arvada site when the shooting occurred.

The Youth With a Mission, with some 1,000 locations worldwide, trains people to become missionaries, according to its website.

The shooting comes just days after a gunman opened fire with a rifle in a busy shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska, Wednesday, killing eight people before taking his own life.

Reports said US President George W. Bush was in Omaha Wednesday, but left before the shooting took place.

There were other reports on shooting this year in the US. On April 16, a gunman killed 33 people, including himself, at a university in Virginia during a two-hour span, the deadliest campus shooting in US history.
