Communication skills of Rajasthan police to be improved

Jaipur : In an attempt to improve the public image of the police force, the Rajasthan government will introduce a project to develop its communication and team building skills.

The main aim of the training, which will be imparted to personnel from constable to inspector, is to develop personal and attitudinal competencies to make them more efficient and improve public perception about the department.

The first phase of the project will target 7,500 police personnel in 10 districts – Jaipur (East), Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Ajmer, Nagaur, Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh and Barmer. Apart from improving their communication and team building skills, the training will have a module on stress management.

The police department has sought an expression of interest (EOI) from organisations or institutions having experience in the field.

The training module, which would be in Hindi, would be classroom based and would be imparted at district headquarters. Each official will undergo six days of training.

“Our aim is that this training should bring improvements in quality of police service, attitude of the police towards the public, and public opinion of police helpfulness,” a home department official said.

If the inputs are effective, then police personnel will assimilate these concepts in their day to day functioning and officials in other districts would be trained in the next phase.
