The firing occurred in the Euro International School in Gurgaon’s Sector 45, close to the national capital, over a personal dispute after school hours. At the end of it, Abhishek Tyagi lay dead with two bullets in the chest and one in the head.

His alleged culprits were Aakash and Vikas, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Satish Balan.

“It seems that firing took place over some personal rift. We have detained both the students. The revolver used in the crime has been seized,” he said.

Tyagi was rushed to the Pushpanjali Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Said Satyavir Yadav, chairperson of the school: “Tyagi received three bullets, two in chest and one in the head.

“We never check bags of students before they enter the school. The firing could be the result of personal vendetta. Students fighting over minuscule issues are common everywhere but we had never expected that it would result in this. We are also investigating the matter,” Yadav said.

Euro International School, an institute of international stature and one of the best schools in Gurgaon, aims at creating a community of well-groomed individuals, its website claims.

Spread over 6,000 sq metres of lush green water harvested area, adorned with play areas, this Gurgaon school has an earthquake proof construction plan with total fire protection and close circuit cameras to monitor each and every activity of children in and outside the classrooms, the website goes on to add.
