Bhopal: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), Bhopal unit’s Hydro Laboratory has made a significant achievement by successfully completing the Pump Model Test for Koil Sagar Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) Stage-I & II of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
According to a Press release BHEL received the order for supply of 2×7.5 + 2×7.5 MW Large Capacity Pump-Motor sets from M/s IVRCL, Hyderabad, who are the turnkey contractor for these projects. Hydraulic design of Pump suiting to project data, was done by hydro lab engineers. The pump is designed to discharge 10.3 m3/sec water at dynamic head of 62 m. These pumps will be used for irrigation purposes.
The Model Test was carried out in presence of engineers from M/s IVRCL. Irrigation Dept. Govt. of AP and APGENCO and the test proved pump capability to meet the guaranteed efficiency and discharge. The model test was also witnessed by Director/Hydro, APGENCO. Copy of Model Test Results were handed over to representatives of M/s IVRCL, Irrigation Deptt. of Govt. of AP and APGENCO by MK Dubey, General Manager (Hydro) in a function held the other day in Hydro lab. The function was attended by staff of laboratory and other hydro departments. Dubey also congratulated the Hydro lab team for completing the model test successfully.
Sr. AGM/IVRCL, praised the expertise and infrastructure available with BHEL for model test. He also thanked for completing the model test well before the earlier proposed date. Director/Hydro, APGENCO while appreciating the performance of 4 x 18 MW Srisailam LIS pump-motor sets, supplied by BHEL, Bhopal, emphasised that APGENCO and BHEL are presently implementing many Hydro projects together and wished same for future projects also.
Presently the BHEL is executing orders for supplying 21 number Pump-motor sets for Kalwakurthy LIS Stage I (5×30 MW), Netampad LIS stage I (4×17 MW), Netampad LIS Stage II (3×17 MW), Kalwakurthy LIS Stage III (5×30 MW), Koil Sagar Stage I (2×7.5MW) and Koil Sagar Stage II (2×7.5MW).
