Addis Ababa : Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has received a message from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad, delivered to him by Mohammad Reza Bagheri, Ian’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister.
While receiving the message here Tuesday, Meles expressed Ethiopia’s desire to enhance its economic relations with Iran, according to a Senior Official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who attended the discussion.
The visiting Iranian deputy minister told journalists after the discussion that President Ahmadinejad, in his message, invited Meles to pay an official visit to Iran.
Iran is ready to further shore up its bilateral relations with Ethiopia, he added.
The two sides also discussed issues intended to further strengthen Ethiopian-Iranian co-operation, Bagheri said, adding that the main purpose of his visit here is to scale up the existing co-operation between the two countries in areas of economy and other sectors.
