By TwoCircles.net news desk

Jammu: Next year Hajj journey will be little easier for Jammu residents. The Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulan Nabi Azad today informed that arrangements will be made for direct flights to Jeddah from Udhampur, for next year Hajj. Information to this effect was released to the media by Mr. Balraj Puri, convenor of PUCL for J&K. Mr. Azad regretted that it was too late to make this arrangement for this year.

The decision came in the wake of protest by Jammu Muslims this year. Hajj journey this year was marked by road closures and flight cancellation which stranded Hajis in Srinagar in bitter cold. Currently, only Srinagar is the embarkation point for all J&K pilgrims.

Mr. Puri and others earlier demanded that Jammu Hajis be allowed to board planes from Delhi to ease their suffering and uncertainty of Srinagar flights.
