Mcgrath wants an all-pace attack to rattle Indians

Adelaide : Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath disagrees with the assertion of Sourav Ganguly that India has the batting depth to humble the World Champions in the upcoming series Down Under starting Dec 26, the media reported here Wednesday.

“Sourav and the Aussies, it has always been a bit of a love-hate relationship there. I’m sure there will be testing times but I still back Australia the whole way. If you look at our batting line-up and the bowlers, it is a pretty awesome team,” McGrath was quoted as saying by Adelaide Now.

McGrath’s comments came at a time when Ganguly, after posting his first double century in the Bangalore Test against Pakistan, said India are better prepared to tackle the Australians.

But McGrath suggested that Australia should pick sling-king Shaun Tait and smash India with extreme pace in the series, starting Dec 26 in Melbourne.

He also believes there’s no reason to stick with an orthodox mix of three pacemen and a spinner when armed with fast bowlers like Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Tait and miserly Stuart Clark, the daily reported.

“I think Australia has always gone with a spinner but that’s not how it has to be. Indians handle spin quite well,” said McGrath, who claimed 563 wickets from 124 Test matches.
