Frankfurt(DPA) : The Star Alliance of code-share airlines has voted to admit Air India, Lufthansa announced here Thursday after a meeting of alliance chiefs in Beijing the same day.
The German carrier and United Airlines are among the founders of the Alliance, in which airlines treat one another’s flights as an extension of their own network.
The Alliance expanded to 19 customers Wednesday when Air China and Shanghai Airlines became full members.
A spokesman said Turkish Airlines would enter the Alliance in the first half of next year, but no date of entry has been set yet for Air India and another new accession, EgyptAir.
