Washington, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) Central Intelligence Agency director Michael Hayden appears in the US House of Representatives Wednesday to account for the institution’s questionable interrogation techniques.
Democrat leaders from the Lower House have recommended CIA chiefs fully cooperate with the investigation, which started after disclosures that a series of videos showing dubious procedures by the Agency were destroyed.
Several authorities believe that the videos, filmed in 2002, showed how CIA officials resorted to torture techniques in several occasions to obtain information from terror suspects.
Democrat Silvestre Reyes, and Republican Peter Hoekstra reminded Hayden that his institution never informed or asked for permission to destroy such relevant film material.
Hayden admitted in public the films were erased because they could endanger ó security, as the interrogators could be identified.
