Ravikant Prasad, officer in charge of the Namkom police station, lodged the compliant against Inspector General of Police D.K. Pandey at the Kotwali police station Wednesday.

Prasad has alleged that the inspector general made insulting comments during a telephone conversation.

Ram Kumar Singh, president of the Jharkhand Police Association, said: “We will meet Director General of Police V.D. Ram and inform him about the incident. The inspector general should apologise to Prasad for abusing him.”

The inspector general has, however, denied using foul language against Prasad.

“There must be some confusion. I think the officer has misunderstood me,” said Pandey.
