Cottbus (Germany) : Dimitar Rangelov’s two goals helped lift Energie Cottbus to a 5-1 rout of Hanover 96 and out of the last place in the Bundesliga.
Cottbus, a perennial underdog from eastern Germany, notched their biggest Bundesliga win as Christian Bassila, Dennis Sorensen and Daniel Ziebig joined in the scoring, thrilling a home crowd of 14,000 Friday.
In their 10th game under former Slovenian national coach Bojan Prasnikar, Cottbus traded last place with Duisburg and moved three spots clear of the bottom.
Hanover got a late consolation goal from Thomas Kleine and barely held on to fifth place, leaving them in European contention for now.
