The 61-year-old Italian, who was confirmed in the role Friday, told Italian television that the England job would be his last.

“This is the final appointment of my career,” the former AC Milan, Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid manager said.

“It would be very nice to finish in the best way.”

Capello replaced Steve McClaren as England manager after the Englishman was sacked following his failure to secure qualification for next summer’s Euro 2008 finals.

The Italian’s appointment has largely been greeted positively by his fellow managers in England, but Capello said he would not be underestimating the task.

“This task will be slower and more complicated because I must study more than if I was a league manager.”

“We want to do very well and there is a lot of expectation. I think that with my team (of assistants) we will achieve great things.”
