Sleuths of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch managed to catch Raja Ram Kushwa, 24, alias Raju, while he was trying to board a train at the Hazrat Nizammudin railway station here.

According to the police, Raju managed to deceive two policemen who were escorting him back from a court in Mohaba district of Uttar Pradesh last month and made his escape. The two policemen were immediately suspended and arrested.

The police said he was awarded death sentence last year for raping and gruesomely murdering a 10-year-old girl in 2004. He has also been facing eight-year imprisonment for murdering a man.

“We have informed the Uttar Pradesh police about his arrest,” Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.
